Maintenance for a certified lexus
My lexus is a certified gs300. I noticed that i need to have the Maintenance performed at a certified dealership. Does Toyota count as a certified dealership to have Maintenance work done?
Thanks,
Sid

It sounds like you have a pre-owned certified used Lexus vehicle. In this case, only Lexus dealerships are authorized to honor any warranty type of work on your car. Toyota doesn't count.

Toyota can do most of the regular changes of transmission and oil. Document in your manual every service performed; date, milage, who did the work and a short summary on what was done; and keep the receipts as proof. If you purchase the parts or fluids, keep those receipts also.

Some Toyota dealerships have the express lube service that would keep track of your records also. They would use all the recomended filters and lubricants for your Lexus. They seem to be reasonably priced too. Considering you don`t want to give them any excuse to void the warranty, this seems like cheap insurance.

Lexus is pretty good with honoring warranty even if the services were done elsewhere (assuming documentation is provided).
Example: 1MZ Sludge problem (relavent if oil changes were not done frequently, etc). The owner had oil changes and such performed at their local ma/pa shop and had all service records (all oil changes, trans fluid changes, etc with receipts that stated genuine Toyota/Lexus parts were used) and the warranty was honored.
In the end, however, it may be at the dealer's discretion to warrant it or not. The dealer you purchased it from would be the most understanding though.
