Navigation map update
Many reports of eBay $50 cards not working. I drive a '13 and wife an '01. If we can't find nav info on the oem map, we simply switch to Google maps.
Over my 30 years with Lexus they started out with just buying a DVD and inserting it yourself, to the current state, which forces you to purchase the navigation upgrade from the dealer and then pay for the "labor" to install it.
Soon we'll probably be paying subscriptions to keep our heated seats and steering wheels working.

personally I would skip the factory map update unless you live in a completely new area (which is confirmed to be included w/ the new software update). Using Google maps / Apple maps etc is much easier (and much more updated) than relying on the $200-300 update.... Lexus / Toyota needs to modernize their electronics to catch up w/ competitors.
2017 was the last year of the "Static" maps and updates. OEM map data was finalized the year before the car
was built so you see map date one calendar year older than your car's model year. As hankinid described you
just pay to have that map data updated with new roads and Points of Interest. The DVD's (and multi-CDs before!)
were the easiest to pirate but were comparatively slow to read and display. The HDD hard drive based navigation
are much faster to access and display information but require the update to be downloaded from a Dealership TechTool.
2018 was the advent of "Dynamic Navigation" and "Dynamic Voice" with a 36 month trial. Why are our phones so
much better than the OEM Native Navigation? Siri and the other voice systems are accessing the cloud servers to
provide nearly "live person" response. The Dynamic Navigation reaches out to the servers and the results are quite
amazing, just like our latest phones.
