Hey guys. I have a 2000 LX 470 which I adore. So I want to slowly work on some aesthetics while keeping the car looking basically clean and stock. I was wondering about the grills. As you know my year car has basically an all black grill with a chrome surround. Later models the grills have either two stripes of chrome in the grill or all of the louvers are Chrome which I adore. I was wondering is swapping out the grill from a newer LX470 into an older LX470 a relatively simple swap job or is it needlessly more difficult than it need be? Also just curious, do you guys also understand why a guy would think a more chrome grill would look better on our trucks than an all black one? The black to me kind of dates the car, the additional Chrome to me makes them look much more elegant.

I ended up taking our '01's chrome grill and painting it flat back.

So you were not able to answer my question and you have some sort of problem with polls? You think it's unreasonable to be curious what other people's opinions are? Then why even respond when you have absolutely nothing to offer? Just felt like being heard I guess?

I'm debating this too, so I appreciate the thread. I just got a 2000 LX and the grille is awful. But I definitely think I want to keep some chrome and update the black.
I didn't see any posts about the difficulty yet, though, so I'll look around for those threads.

Nope. I was OK once I realized I could make my own decisions. 
If, as you put it, you "adore" chrome, you may want to seek out a professional.
On topic, various 100 series grills will interchange, whether LX or Land Cruiser.

So much anger from the genius who considers the addition of flat black spray paint to a Lexus an upgrade. I guess if I had to live in that sort of a neighborhood maybe I'd run around all pissy at people I didn't know also. Hope you can get the heat and cable turned back on soon.
