Default LS 460 vs Lincoln continental

Hi guys, I'm in shopping mode and my choices are between a 2013+ ls 460 ultra luxury vs 2017 lincoln continental reserve and. Without seeing either car yet. The Lincoln has a better refined interior, seats, and stereo than the lecus. Should be interesting to see the difference in ride comfort and noise.

The real question is, Which one will give you less problems in the first 360 days. Then, the next 3 years......

Being the owner of a '17 SHO, I'd dispute the refined part. The SHO/Taurus and Lincoln are essentially the same platform and car, save for additional sound-deadening, etc. The stereo MAY be better, but only if it's the Revel system. You;ll be hard-pressed to exceed the refinement of the LS460. Especially with a Lincoln product. I love my SHO, but FOMOCO does not match the Lexus. The little intangibles and so on. When you drive them...you'll know.

As already stated, the long term ownership will be less dramatic with the Lexus than it will with the Ford. It's one of the reasons I bought an extended warranty - not something I would normally do

I've driven a couple of Continentals, I considered one before I traded my 2015 LS in on the 2017. No comparison, the Continental is not at all in the same league. Its FWD, powertrain is nowhere near as refined, ride is not the same at all, especially compared to an LS with the air suspension. Interior looks good in pictures, but in person there are lower rent materials than you find in the Lexus, etc. Lincolns seats are cool, but that's really it. After test driving it I immediately crossed it off the list.

Its just at its core a much less expensive car than the LS, on a Taurus platform, remember it starts at $44k while the LS starts at $75k. You feel that difference in the car's DNA.

Why did you go from a 15 to 17? I'm looking at a 2013 base LS 460 with 50k miles.

I just traded my 17 Continental Reserve in for a 15 LS 460 F-Sport Crafted Line. I actually liked the Continental but mine had a few knocks. Interior rattles at 25K,FWD, and had over $8k of work done in less than 2 months. I was seriously considering getting a Black Label version with the 3.0L AWD,Revel system, and LED headlights. The Lincoln is a beast with the 3.0L. Heck, even with the 2.7L it really moves. Came across the LS and was overtaken with their build quality over the Lincoln. My main gripe about the LS is the infotainment system is hopelessly outdated. One thing Ill have to put up with. Ill take that over the constant repairs I had to go through. Also, the level of customer service provided with the Lexus over Lincoln is amazing.

Not even comparable. If you were to drive each one for a few hundred miles I'll bet you come up with the answer.

Lincoln has announced that they are offering a anniversary model with suicide doors and the price will be $100k.

BTW! MOVE QUICK!...... Because there will only be 80 made.

Yeah, I saw that too. So they're taking a $45k car and adding $55k in options, basically. It's still a $45k platform, though, which is why I don't think it's worth the money.

I was in a position where I was going to have to commit to my 2015 or get out of it (over miles on the lease). Lexus was changing direction with the LS for 2018 with the LS500 not having the V8, being lower and tighter and firmer riding, sportier, etc. My 2015 always lacked some options I really wanted such as the LWB, the ML audio, the upgraded leather and suede headliner. The one I got has those things plus air suspension, RWD, radar cruise control, LED lights, etc. Its a much better optioned car and I like it much more. I got a great deal on it at the end of the model year and figured it was the last big, comfort oriented V8 Lexus LSs and I jumped on it.

I'm much more likely to commit to this car long term with the options it has than I was the 2015.
