Buddy of mine and I got into an argument about this a couple days ago.
Just want to hear it from you guys, REALISTICALLY, between the 2017 Lexus LS 460L and the 2018 Lexus LS 500: Which car has more REAR seat legroom.
Not looking for the paper statistics, asking someone who has sat in and compared the legroom of these cars before.
On paper, Lexus says the 500 has more legroom, but having sat in both cars, I am 98% sure the 460L has more rear seat legroom.
Thanks in advance!
I explored the LS500 in the showroom, but the front seats were not adjusted exactly to my liking/driving position before I sat in the rear seats. By comparison, the front seats in my LS460L are exactly where I like them.
With this caveat, the 500 has less rear leg room than the 460L. Importantly, the feeling of confined space in the 500 compared to the 460L results from two additional factors: The rear seats in the 500 are positioned higher than in the 460L, and the rear roofline in the 500 rakes more sharply downward than in the 460L, and the panoramic sunroof cuts further into the rear headroom. All together, these factors make the rear seats seem very confining.
To me, this is not up for debate. The 460L has more rear legroom.
Definitely agree. I adjusted the front seat to my driving position in the LS 500 and can cross my leg in the rear seat more easily, with more space leftover, in an LS 460L.
On a side note, the same test in a 2019 ES results in almost as much rear legroom as our SWB LS! The ES is probably only short by an inch or so.

Makes sense. The 460L interior just feels more roomy and spaced out than the 500 interior because of these factors.
The LS460L has significantly more rear legroom than the LS500. Its immediately noticeable as soon as you sit in them both.
Yeah you are right. Thats why I asked because on paper, Lexus states that the LS 500 has 38.9 inches of rear legroom while the LS 460 L has 36.7 inches. Having sat in both cars before, these numbers look off.
Absolutely no question..the 500 rear legroom is way less. We noticed it before even sitting in it at the auto show... Then confirmed when it was at dealer.. major disappointment
