11 LS Nav Update????
Hey guys, just wanted to know if anyone knows how to update the navigation maps on 2011 LS460. Map data is getting kind of old and I heard there was a way to update them manually.
Thank you in advance.

The last I saw the update costs $169 plus labor. I've read here they can charge between $80 and $195, so negotiate!

Just had mine updated and mine is a 2010 last updated in 13.
The update was $99 and labor was $169 plus taxes.
It took 3 hours but I didn’t have anything else to do that day so took my iPad and read while waiting.
No graphic changes to marvel at, but I only did it because it was 4 year old mapping
Hope this helps

My car has the original map data from 2014, that too for the East Coast region where it was bought. I like watching how the car is "flying" over new roads that don't show up on my Nav screen

While I seldom use the car’s navigation system (I use Waze on my android phone) the relatively large map screen (compared to my phone screen) is very useful, combined with the turn-by-turn voice directions from the phone.
For that reason, I might upgrade my maps next year. I last had them updated for free in 2015 at the time I purchased the car, which probably shows I paid too much for the car. The colors and features made it relatively painless, though.

Hi Cubbylex, that's a lot of money for the update. Do you use the Navigation system frequently? I prefer navigating with Google Maps on my phone. It's always up-to-date and keeps track of traffic conditions. We live in a small town, so Waze doesn't do much for me.

yes it is pricey, but it hadn’t been done for a while.
No, in answer to your question, I don’t really use it because it is awkward to get it to work with the voice commands. However, if I can pre program before I go somewhere I haven’t been, then I use it. Don’t try to change it mid drive because you will just want to shoot it.
I have just just given up on it and used my iPhone.
Crazy I know, but with a lot of things with my vehicles, I like to keep things up to date and working. It’s kind of incongruous, but I am just that way.
I wont be doing it again. Living in North Texas, the roads are being worked on constantly with new ones established daily. This update, while 17, is already outdated.
Some people wouldn’t bother but individual wants and needs.
I’m sure later LSs have better navigation systems and it is probably worth doing.
Sorry to ramble, hope all are doing well and have a happy Thanksgiving.

Hopefully some good news for us Gen 4 LS Owners may be coming our way.
The good folks at Grom Audio indicated via a Facebook response that they are working on a solution to allow their VLine Platform to work with the 2011 & I assume other LS years.

The GROM support person I chatted with earlier today said GROM might look at the 2010-2012 MY’s at some future date. Apparently, the wiring is different for them than for 2007-2009. Unless you’ve evidence to the contrary, I’m not holding my breath...
