Default Nav update with CPO prep?

I thought I read somewhere that a nav update is part of the CPO-ing process. My nav version says 10.1, which I think is the 2011 original version. So, the question is...did the dealer forget to update it during the CPO process?

I do not believe the nav update is part of the CPO process. Yes the version 10.1 would have been the version for the Model year 2011. The Nav version is always 1 year behind the model year. I just had my 2010 Gen 6 version 9.1 upgraded to the 14.1 version earlier this month for the $99 special plus labor at Lexus of Tulsa

The Nav disc updates are released in October of each calendar year. Version 10.1 for the Gen 4 system was released in Oct. 2010 (the data on the disc is typically several months older than the release date). Lexus dealers are offering the 2014 disc (Ver. 14.1) for $99.99 until December 31st. You should check if the same discount is offered for your Gen 6 system.

Thanks! It works fine, I wouldn't spend money to upgrade it. I found this, which made me leave well enough alone:

If I need updated maps, I'll buy the latest Garmin with lifetime maps and traffic next Friday for less than the cost of upgrading the Lexus system once.

I'm having my 08 done Thursday. It's $99 plus $62 for the install. They are loaning me a car, so I don't have to hang around. Worth it to me until I trade for another car years down the road.

I hear what you are saying. I could not bring myself to place a Garmin GPS unit on the Dash of my LS 460L and then drive down the road. You might have more luck using your smart phone if the nav unit will not get you where you need to go?

My '11 CPO would not have been updated if I hadn't asked the dealer to do so.

I updated mine as well. It was never updated on my 2008 LS460L. Every one is different and that is okay by me on what one does with their ride. Personally I can't see myself putting my Garmin on the dash. I use my Navigation Unit along with Google maps to do my quick searches.

It makes sense to me to have it done. Updates the car and is better for resale value IMPO.

I agree, I would not do it every year but every 5 years, I think it is worth it.

From my reading on this forum, one should ask for the most recent map update as part of the negotiation process when buying a CPO vehicle. I forgot to do this when I recently negotiated the purchase price over the phone for mine.

I called the salesman (the used car sales manager) back, and he said he'd see what he could do. When I arrived at the dealership the next day, he asked (smiling): "Was having it done for free good enough?"

Props to Jim at Fresno Lexus for this!

Thank You
It looks like Lexus removed the calendar memo feature in 2010 and later LS460's. I guess it had to do with the newer generation navigation systems. I'm not happy about the apparent removal of this feature with no notice. It limits the usefulness of even having a car calendar.
