I'll be damned... So was I. When did the identification get added? I can confirm 2008 does not identify.

From the 2013 MY.

For better or worse, the 2018 LS does away with the spare and uses run-flats. It will still display tire pressures by position, but folks may worry less about leaks and flats. The ride may be a bit harsher with the run flats, but it also frees up trunk space.

So, we're paying more money for an ultra luxury car with a V6 and run flats.............. No thanks!

The spare deletion isn't for added trunk space and the twin turbo V6 isn't for improved performance - they're to eek out an extra 0.1mpg for CAFE standards compliance.

Keith, your point is well taken. However, check out the detailed driving reviews of the LS500, which are now available. It looks like the turbo V6 is being received well and delivers solid power over a wide rpm range. Noise levels are about the same. Some reviewers say the LS500 handles better than the 7 series, and is almost on par with the S class.

As for the run-flats, aren't the Germans also using them on their flagships?
