My tire pressure indicator came on and I inflated them and this is now what is shows
LF 31
RF32
LR 32
RR 30

Now the RF and LR are now highlighted in red and when I started it was only the LR.

Anybody got any idea what I am doing wrong as I have been inflating tires for a very long time....this happened just after the 30,000 mile service but I dont think it included any tire rotation.

 

The pressure readings are not identified by location...

What year is your car? You probably need to reset the TPMS. Check the owners manual.

Tire Pressure Monitoring System

As I recall there is a button under the dash, near the steering column. I have a 2007, your car may be different. Best to check your manual.

Hi Charles, don't be stunned. You are misinformed. In your 2014 LS, the tire pressures are identified by position. Please consult the owners manual, pages 96, 761-763.

When rotating tires, you have to leave the ignition OFF to ensure that tire position information will be updated upon start. Here's the section from page 763.

"When rotating the tires: Make sure that the engine switch is off. If the tires are rotated while the engine switch is in IGNITION ON mode, the tire position information will not be updated. If this accidentally occurs, either turn the engine switch to off and then to IGNITION ON mode, or initialize the system after checking that the tire pressure is properly adjusted."

And, as recommended by everyone above, please reset the tire pressure warning system (TPMS) after adjusting the pressures. Consult pages 761 and 765 of the manual for details.

 

Is your car a 2014 LS460?

 

Riddle me this... as this is the first car I have TMPS on, How accurate are the readings that it comes up, or are they to be used as an estimate ?

 

I have an 08. I find them to be relatively accurate. The only reason I have a general idea of which number goes with which tire, is I've had a leak. So for now I know which one that is. Then I put air in another one and saw the inflated number on the screen. So, I know two of them. Otherwise, I find them accurate, but no real way other than testing, to know which number goes with which tire.

 

Lexus recommends checking pressures regularly with a pressure gauge, and using the TPMS readings to ensure there are no leaks. I have found the readings to be quite accurate.

 

I just this morning added air to all 4 tires on the wife's 2014 using a tire pressure gauge and when completed the TPMS depicted a 1 or 2 lb range (which is accurate enough for a passenger car....).

Yes my car is a 2014 LS460L.

 

I check both our cars monthly, easier with the TPMS readout on the LS as it lets me know when pressures are getting too low. I compare it to a handheld digital air pressure gauge and the LS numbers are spot on, give or take .5 PSI. My wife's tire pressures are pretty stable, probably due to the Nitrogen that Costco uses. I get my tires rotated at America's Tire and they use regular air and I lose 1 PSI per month.
