2008 ls 460 ERRATIC THROTTLE RESPONSE
My LS has problematic throttle response, runs fine some days other days wont respond to throttle input, sometimes to the point of barely moving through an intersection with the accelerator fully depressed. Have been to the dealer to no avail cant diagnose. Anyone else had this condition and a fix?
This is a common issue. If you do a search of "hesitation after oil change" on this forum, you will be rewarded with a lot of info. I will reply later with my findings. It will take me a while and I don't have the time right now, lol.
I used to experience a similar issue with my 2009 LS460 almost each time after engine oil change at the dealer.
usually several days later the problem will disappear.
Then i started replacing the engine oil by myself, and haven't seen this problem ever since.

This is the one problem that scared me from getting a 460 for a while
It affected quite a few people and from my understanding it was and still is a ghost issue with no known cause or cure
Some say can be fixed by using Toyota oil rather then other brands, but I'm not sure

I recall some early models having their cylinder heads swapped out because of malfunctioning knock sensors retarding timing when the acellerator was pressed. Seemed like a nuclear fix at the time(?!) I was under the impression that this had been fixed. Then there was a transmission flash to address a similar problem later on. Did you discuss either of these issues as possible causes with your dealer?
I think this is a feature that works exactly like BMW that i have. Its called Reset Adaptive Driving ! After every oil change, dealer suppose to reset it to let it relearn on how you guy drive, after a week it will memorize on how hard or how light you would push on the gas and it will go from there.
When ever i want to reset the Adaptive Driving on the bimmer, i just have to turn the ignition to ON, push the gas all the way in for 30 seconds, a beep will sound to confirms that the process is done.
Google : Reset Throttle or Reset ECU !

This is a good article. You can use a laptop and Techstream to diagnose. Just data log the knock sensors to be sure.

I've experienced this hesitation, and it wasnt limited to after a recent oil change. I've had it happen 4k miles after an oil change.
I dont know if it is just in my head, but it tends to happen while having a tank of Exxon gas. It doesnt seem to happen as much when using Texaco or QT gas. Could be entirely coincidence, but I'm trying to monitor the occurrences more carefully to confirm/disprove my own wild guess. 08 LS460
