Tsib for throttle lag?
I was driving my mothers 10 LS 460 this morning and I swear my 07 is suffering from some type of throttle lag. It feels like the transmission spends too much time hunting for the right gear and not enough time delivering the power. Is there a tsib for this problem?
There are a couple TSIB's that relate to a sluggish throttle. The fixes do work. Funny, that when I had the head tech drive with me, he asked to try another LS460 and it was worse than mine with no complaint from the owner. The problem at the time was stepping (more like stomping) on the throttle and a definite delay before the car started to accelerate.
The throttle lag is mostly due to drive by wire throttle systems. I did a review on Sprint Booster and it resolved most of it.

Be sure to use premium gasoline… 90+ octane. The LS460 has an 11.8:1 compression ratio that requires high octane to prevent knocking. If filled with regular grade it won’t hurt the engine, but the engine’s computer and knock sensors will recognize a problem and retard the ignition timing to prevent knock from occurring. The LS may adjust shift points and other drive train control points as well. Ultimately its 380 horses is reduced to much less power during hard acceleration or off the line of a stop light. Even with proper fuel the drive-by-wire will still have some lag and likely never have the response of a mechanical throttle system, but the fuel does matter and should be considered before completely blaming the throttle.
I bought my LS460 last spring and found the throttle response somewhat below expectation, but after a few hundred miles it got ridiculous. I noticed the tranny hunting, often I was mashing the pedal and trying to get rev's coming out of intersections. Many of the comments above described my situation, but it finally dawned on me that I had been filling up with 87 octane – something I am used to with my Land Cruiser and my wife's RX300. It has been 12 years since I last ran into the same issue on a (high compression) Z28 I owned. It was a stock 275 hp motor and the problem then was that the power loss was only noticeable on cold (for Houston) days. Nevertheless it was never as severe as the LS, but it was a problem that provoked me to learn about knock and the real reason that higher octane fuel is required for some engines. Since I started filling the LS with premium the severe throttle lag has disappeared; however, there is still a “bump” lag that sometimes happens after sitting at a traffic light. This seems to be the issue directly intended for the TSIB L-TC009-07 and TSIB L-SB-0033-08, which I will have to visit the dealer for.

I just had my car serviced and my dealer is aware of the throttle lag issue. We agreed to deal with it when it goes in for the valve springs replacement.
They received the spring replacement tool recently and are awaiting the springs after which the recall letter will be sent.
