Lexus is Replacing the Dashboard and Door Panels
For some reason they always have an issue replacing the glove box. Honestly, if they were replacing all of the dash and door panels I would pay for the glove box lol. I'm sure your dealer will work something out for you.
Indeed, if something cannot be worked out, my OCD will demand that I replace the glovebox. Hopefully, I will be able to find one from a wrecked one or somesuch. Perhaps the LS600h has a leather covered dashboard...
Yeah, When they did my dash i asked about the glove box. Came back with not covered. Think they are around 600 new. Least the one ebay was same color as mine.
Mine is not bad so i can stay with it and also because i know the last owner had it changed for not staying closed.

Super stoked as Lexus is going to be replacing the glove box as well as the door panels and dashboard (dash cover) when all the parts arrive. While my dealer would not approve it, by calling Lexus's 800 number and pleaded my case, they had mercy on me.
It is going to be pretty awesome to have a practically new interior. While that is done, I am going to have the wood around the gear shift and so forth buffed as well and most likely am going to also have the car buffed at Lexus as my dealer now has a detail shop as well.

Thanks! I won't lie, I am guessing that it greatly helped that my stepmother has purchased 5 RX's, my stepfather two GX's, and my father an ES300h (wincing as I write that) all brand new from the same dealer as I go to. And of course all three do all their servicing there as well
In addition, I had both my prior LX470 and LS430 always maintained at the same dealer as well. That said, I do think it helped that the rep I spoke to was really nice and I was super pleasant and made clear that I greatly appreciated her efforts regardless of whether or not she would be able to get the glove box replaced.
Really is great as beyond the discoloration and melting, on the right side on the glove box, it is sagging as well. I believe I read about a fix that many here have done about that and had it not been for the discoloration and melting which was honestly worse than the door panels and especially the dashboard where I could not really notice anything.

I have an 08 model thats built in 10/2007. It has only 55K miles and is prestine. I have the melting door panel problem.
Talked to Lexus and was assigned a rep for my area of the country. She was very unpleasant, and completely unwilling
to listen to my concern that the door panels get sticky and literally starts melting in heat and sunlight.
There is definitely a design issue with the plastics used. As an experiment I left the door open in sunlight and you can see
the plastic/rubber material starts "sweating", getting sticky and tacky.
Lexus makes fine automobiles, but I am very miffed at them refusing to take any kind of responsibility for this issue, even when
they know very well its a big problem, a problem in many Toyota and Lexus models.
Very disappointed!......

Randy, its my understanding they go only by the VIN number, and for the LS460 its only some early 07 models thats in the recall.
Does not matter if you can show them proof you have sticky melting panels!.
But some folks are getting the panels replaced in their 2008s, 2009s, 2010s and 2011 cars.
