Default Left Turn signal blinks to fast

Hi guys first time posting hope its in right place. The left turn signal in my lexus LS 460 blinks faster then normal which would normally mean a blown bulb but all the lights work. Have swaped the bulbs over from right side yet still the same issue..any suggestions would be appreciated??

Thanks in advance

doesn't mean a blown bulb, it means the voltage level is out of spec.

are all the bulbs the same wattage? if the car uses a 35watt turn and there is a low wattage bulb or led in it; then it will fast blink, beyond that it would be something with the control module.

When one side blinks faster than the other, it is usually caused by one side drawing less current than the other - the side drawing the least current will blink fastest. Since you have swapped the bulbs you need to consider whether it is a bulb that you have not checked. How about the bulbs on the mirrors? Are your mirrors the type with turn indicators?

Another thing to try is to use your cellphone to make a video of the turn-signals while they are operating to see if you can see anything different. Try making a video of the front while alternately selecting left and right turn signals and then make a video of the rear while doing the same thing. It might be a good idea to do the sides but you need to walk the video around while you are doing the sides.

Im sure the bulbs are the same watts on both sides as have swaped bulbs from right to left with no change in issue.will see if the mechanic has any solutions. Not to keen on taking it to the dealer, probably will end up paying more then i want to have it fixed if i do lol

A fast blinking turn signal caused by a blown bulb was common when the turn signal controller was a mechanical bi-metallic. Modern cars use solid state controllers. While its possible that your problem is still a bulb (wrong wattage) it could also be a problem elsewhere. Failing all else, a trip to the stealer may be in order.

Checked and replaced all bulbs again including the side markers and no change so bad or incorrect bulb is out of the picture

I used to drive BMWs. They were very sensitive to using the correct (BMW-supplied) bulbs. Didn't matter if the bulb was the same spec, the aftermarket bulbs gave an error on the dash-display which only went away when I went to the stealer and bought their bulb.

Sigh!

LOL. Yep...crazy but true. My wife's X5 was particularly cranky about that.

To the OP: have tried replacing the flasher? It's terribly hard to get at, but perhaps that's the issue.

Flasher seems to be the only other option i can think of. Will take a look over weekend. Read its behind the dash, Not to keen on taking dash apart so hopefully can reach from under and feel for it..otherwise will just pretend im driving a bmw and stop using the left turn signal lol

I've had more than a couple of car dashboards apart/out, and by the time I got to the fourth piece on this one, going flasher-diving, I decided "nope", and put it back together.

I did not want to introduce squeaks and rattles.

As a result, for my LEDs, I'm going down the resistor route, but one on each bulb so none get horribly hot. More soldering for me (I'm not tapping into the OEM wiring, but rather, adapting the resistor harnesses), but that's fine.

I think it would help others to understand this better if you would tell us about the blink-rate for either side. If you can, please tell us something like this: "'the left side blinks 70 blinks per minute and the right side blinks 110 blinks per minutes."

Hmmmm....yes....that's a good point. I had noisy mufflers once and assumed they were trashed....turned out to be the muffler bearings. So ya never know.
