I went to dinner tonight and on the way home I noticed white smoke, coming from pipes. It's 42 degrees outside. I didn't notice any from any cars I saw beside me. I saw it when I got home. It didn't have any smell to it at all. It just felt warm. My girl friends car was not making any smoke either. I have never seen any during the day when it was warmer out. Am I being paranoid?

 

Nope. I see it too. Thought something was wrong, but I have seen a lot of threads about it, so barring something else going on, I say it's normal.

 

That's what I'm thinking just being over paranoid about the new car I suppose lol

 

Normal. ULEV cars will emit more condensation than most (so I've been told).

It's probably fine but you might want them to take a look at the crankcase ventilation system next time its in for service. A plugged valve can cause white-ish/grey smoke.

 

I should have described it better it was more if a vapor than smoke it quickly disipated into the air and had no smell or residue to it

 

More condensation be cause of more heat created by going through 3 catalytic converters, an exhaust manifold and 2 mufflers perhaps?

I have experienced the same problem with my 600 during the summer months (i live in MS) with temps around 90-100 degrees with a white vapor coming out of the tail pipes. I say that if my dash light doesnt come on then it must be in the design of the car and i just stop worrying about.( my car is serviced routinely)

 

Another thing I noticed this past weekend was an almost "eggy" smell coming from my car, would this be a result of this system/arrangement?

 

Rotten eggs? Unlikely - that's usually high sulfur content in the gas. There's a TSB (for information only) on this but it's been common in the US for nearly 40 years. High sulfur content has been a problem for aluminum engines in some cars over the years, particularly European imports. You might want to change gas stations!

 

So steam basically. .all of us have that, usually in the morning is when I notice it the most. Its funny on my hybrid..it doesn't come out until I leave my subdivision and sit at the light. On really cold days..everyone is puffin vapors except me until my 5.0 kicks in when I take off lol

 

"Eggy" (sulfur) smell oftentimes means you have a catalytic convertor going out on you. When they start plugging up, your car's exhaust will smell like that. The next stage is a loss of performance that exponentially comes on pretty quick as they plug up.
