07 Transmission
Lately I have noticed that the transmission is not shifting smoothly in the lower gears. I have 114K on there. Spoke to my service manager and he mentioned that it may need caliberation. Doesn't sound right after all the miles? Has anybody experienced this problem ? Please share your thoughts.
This calibration he mentioned could be just transmission software upgrade. The car "learns" the way the driver drives, and sometimes in stop-and-go traffic where you feather the gas pedal and then use the breaks right away, because the car in front of you is stopping, can cause the transmission to start behaving as you described.
What you can do is to go to an open road and take off as usual using half the travel of the gas pedal, going through at least 6 out of 8 gears. The car should go to about 3000rpm or a little more before shifting into the next gear. Usually doing this 4 or 5 times cures the problem. If it doesn't, the so called 'calibration' will just reset what the car has learned so far in terms of driver's style, and you'll teach it again in the next 2 full gas tanks or so.
