Default Window auto close/limit calibration?

Hi,

After 6 months of ownership of my 2007 LS460L, I have my first minor problem.

When using auto close function with my driver's side window, I am getting a squeal at very end of window travel from weather stripping (I think). This squeal has started couple days ago when outside temperature dropped in Toronto to around 0 Celsius. Also, it seems to me that window might be trying to move too high, "forcing" the squeal from the weather stripping.

Is there a calibration procedure for the auto-close function? I have looked at owner's manual and searched the forum as well.

I am taking my car for valve spring recall to Buffalo in December, and I will ask them to take a look at this problem as well. However, I am wondering whether there is something I can try right now to correct this problem?

Any advice would be appreciated...

Andrew

Wow, very odd to see this post, as our very new to us 07 460L started doing the exact same thing tonight! The weather is a little cool but not really that cold. I thought maybe I did it when I cleaned the window today. Let me know what the dealer says about it. I'm curious if it keeps doing it or not.

i don't think there is any calibration. on the other hand, you probably don't want the window to stop any short anyway

I have followed all the postings in the LS460/LS460L/LS600h thread for over three years and this is the first mention of this sort of problem that I have seen. And I have read all of the original wind noise thread because of my special interest in that subject. Seems like I recall that there were several reports, back in the "wind noise desperation days" of dealers putting additional weather stripping material behind the window seals in an attempt to help with the wind noise. I am certain there were reports of owners doing that sort of thing. If you run out of ideas that might be something to consider - additional material might make the window top-out too soon causing the lift-motor to make a noise. Lots of strange things were done attempting to get rid of the wind noise.

I will take a detailed look at the weather stripping in the next couple days...
Your idea makes a really good sense... Thank you.

There were also some reports of owners modifying the door seals. That sort of thing might cause the window race to be pushed out enough to be a problem.

I know my Acura used to do that. I got that Prestone Silicone Spray in a yellow can and it has almost a powdery slick residue that helps keep things like glass running smoothly and quietly up and along the rubber seal tracks and doesn't leave anything on the window. I spray some in the glass grooves twice a year to keep the window moving up and down real smooth and no squeaks..haven't tried it on my LS yet, plan to do that soon cuz mine does that too.

EDIT: Been doing some research to find Prestone and looks like it may be discontinued. It looks like 3M makes a similar product now, should be as good if not better.
