Ok, after almost 2 years of ownership, I found out that my LS460 (with NAV but not ML) will play home burned CD-Rs with MP3 files. That's the good news. The bad news is that while the screen indicates the ability to recognize multiple folders, mine only seems to recognize 1 folder even if more than 1 are on a disc. And even if I put more than 20 songs in 1 folder, it only reads the 20 songs.
Any operational "how to do this" info would be appreciate.
ummm that's odd, i burn cds with 10-20 folders and the system is able to read through all of them. so no matter what you do it doesn't see more than 20 songs? what if you try to burn songs to the disc without any folder?
I found the problem. I was burning MPEG4 files. Once I limited it to MP3 it works as I expected. Now to figure out how to convert from MPEG4 to MP3
Make an audio CD out of your MP4's then import the CD back into your computer to convert to MP3. There is also some software out there that will do it but I find this to be easy enough.
Thanks. I did the upload then back download from the audio CD and now it works great. Of course I found out that the same Nanny State gremlins that lock out the NAV also lock out the ability to scroll through FOLDERS of music while in motion.
You don't need ML to play MP3s. Mine is non-ML. TCLK must be doing something wrong. It will NOT play MP3s burned to a DVD...only to a CD. But it works.
it is pretty big difference. the ML system on the ls460 is their reference system, so it's easily another step about other mark levinson system found on other lexus. the reference system on my ls460l was easily the best oem system i have ever experienced
