I have read the thread, that's why the black triangular piece doesn't make sense to me regarding the wind noise. Doesn't seem that the triangle would be affected by lowering the window just a tad, which seems to help.
Yes it helps, but in my case anyway this "temporary" remedy went away when my windows were replaced with the laminated glass as well as a few other modifications that are part of the TSB. I speculated that the noise reduction that resulted by a slight lowering of the window was caused by a decreased force being applied during the upward motion. Prior to the fix, the door frame also seemed to move as though it was being strained by being jammed by the window's motor. After the fix, everything operated smoothly, and of course there was no longer any effect by slightly lowering the window. Perhaps the repair guy spotted this anomaly and adjusted the travel. If this phenomena still exists after a window replacement, it may be a symptom that the travel has not been adjusted imho.
Sorry to spend so much time on unplugged holes in the bottom of the car, but I'm now curious ... There are a couple of holes on both sides of the underbody plastic shrouding of my car that aren't plugged. They are about 12" in from the edge of the car body, and about 6" and 18", respectively, from the trailing edge of the front wheel opening.
This pic shows both holes. Sorry for the quality, but it's hard to wedge a camera in under there. -
So my question is this: Are the round holes in the plastic underbody shroud supposed to be plugged? The more oval-shaped ones appear to have the right plugs in them, but these don't.

Any ideas?

Very good effort Mike as I know that you really weren't having a problem but still took time and interest and checked things out!
And amazing pics.
Yes, you are missing a couple of plugs, you can even see the recess provided for round rubber plug flange on one marked in your pic front hole. and you show one side of vehicle, both sides have them or could be missing them.
The other further back seems to lack a flange area but looks like a round one is missing as well, I noticed they all don't have flange recess so it lacking one does not mean it is not missing a plug.
Your car will be even quieter than currently when they are installed.
When time permits look for two very close to each other forward of the front one in your pic as underside turns vertical to create the firewall and see what you see. And yes I know it is a pain to get up in and around under there. If you have already and they are present on yours, those are the ones missing on others who really are complaining about loud wind noise as part of what is contributing to it, or in some cases as the reason for it.

Thanks, Bob. I'll get these plugged at my first oil change. And I'll have them check for any other missing ones, too.
This is a common "oversight" for the PDI crew. I had some missing on my last Acura, too. Don't know if it's ignorance or laziness, but I suspect the latter.
OK guys, now you have me thinking as well about this wind noise problem. Exactly how many of these holes are there on the under-body of the LS460L? My car is going in for the 5,000 mile service this Friday and I want to make sure to tell the service manager to see to it that all the holes are plugged up properly. From reading the recent posts here, it seems as if the (Lexus) service is lax on this detail. Pardon my ignorance but what exactly does PDI stand for?
PDI stands for Pre Delivery Inspection, some of it is at facility at dockside when they arrive here if built in Japan and the rest is dealer obligation.
The missing plugs are not the be all end all to wind noise but if missing, particularly the most forward, it/they will be a player in the noise. Underside to a degree, but more road and tire on road noise with those missing.
a lot of them, even MS paint can help you do a lot of them already. of course, photoshop is probably one of the best
Yeah, I have Photoshop 6, but I find I use Paint Shop Pro X the most because it's easier to use.
But there are lots of editors available that allow you to add text, arrows, geometric shapes, etc., etc. You might check out Irfanview (freeware) at http://www.irfanview.com/ . I'm not 100% sure it allows text additions, but it probably does ... and it's FREE!
