if the root cause is not the glass, it's pointless to put them there. bandage fix is not a real fix

Changing a giant production line is vastly more expensive - even an apparent small change like this one. Plus, I think they see this as an anomaly, and their technical readings validate their posture. They probably also have a lot of tempered glass inventory and figure the cost of a small percentage of field changes is significantly less than tweaking their production line. When you're involved in large scale production as I once was, it sometimes boggles the mind how an insignificant change can have such a great impact on the bottom line.

I'm just glad I have the laminated glass. It's not a perfect fix, but it's much better than before. I'm waiting for a permanent fix...

Default 2008 SWB LS460 wind noise

I finally took my 2008 LS460 out to for a long drive this morning, about 100 miles and I can hear the wind noise. I checked out my window and it's not laminated. Does anyone with an 2008 SWB have this problem too?

Has anyone in southern California have their wind noise fix at Longo Lexus in El Monte? If you have. How was the work? Clean, like new or the door panel is scratch or dirty.

Acecert has gotten his second LS 460 from Longo Lexus and has scheduled it for the wind noise fix as stated here:

His first LS 460 had the wind noise fix done as well.

Same here. One good thing about the front side laminated glass, it's a little harder to break into cars that have it...

I agree, and I also don't hear as much traffic noise...

I got my 08 LS460 the first week it came out. I checked my window and it's not laminated. Only tempered. I guess Lexus didn't change it until after I bought my car. I'll wait and have it change later because I only hear the wind noise some of the time. Still love the car.

My dealer mentioned that newer 2008 swb ls460s have the changed seals and the better insulation. However, they still don't have the laminated glass. When the dealer gets these newer ls460s, they just install the laminated glass to fix the wind noise.
fix done, same result.
Lexus of Westminster in SoCal did a good job.
there is a VERY faint noise @ higher speeds now.
(bad news.. gotta pay $140 to get the front two windows tinted again )

I'd bet Lexus will reimburse you if you ask.
