2007 LS460, 150K miles, ML audio.
Radio works fine. When I put a CD in it loads and plays but the playback is very noisy and distorted on the left channel.I assume the amp is fine since the radio works.
How do I fix this? Is the CD player replaceable or repairable? Are the radio and CD player one unit or are they separable? I see many on eBay for under $100. Anyone knows were the hard drive is?

Thanks.

Just a suggestion but have you tried using a CD cleaner?

Good suggestion, I will give it a try. I may have one somewhere. Have you had good luck with a particular one?

Not in particular but I purchase one years ago and used it to clean my home CD player and the CD player in my vehicles. The CD cleaner worked well then, but I haven't used a CD or CD cleaner in years.

OK, I tried a CD cleaner and now there is no audio out of the CD player! The CD shows like it's playing but no audio. It had issues to begin with, so I am not surprised.

Question: There are plenty of these CD/DVD players available used on eBay. Is it a simple plug and play or does it more involved than that, like coding to the VIN? Does that unit house the radio too?

I'm pretty sure it's not coded to the car (or anything else). Even if it's beyond your comfort zone, a competent car stereo store would replace it for you for $100.

Thanks, Keith, good to know it's not coded. That's the route I will go, it seems pretty easy to replace.
