where the question about converting was asked, but with no replies.
Could someone please advise if this conversion is legitimate?
The car is on my list but this headlight configuration causes me some concern.
It otherwise ticks many boxes.
Yes. This is a known mod. I've seen it done on pre-restyle LS460 and was going to do it on my 2017 at some point, but changed my mind. There is a conversion harness that I've seen on the internet that allows you to connect LS600 headlights in the LS 460, this mod is a real deal. I see you looking to get JDM LS 460 in the US. I think you better off with LS that was actually made for our region. JDM cars here are pain in the back sometimes. Even European ones sometimes driving people nuts. Your NAV, infotainment menus and such in kanji. Some regional settings, parts and so forth might be a problem, speedometer is metric, nevermind steering wheel is on the wrong side of the car. Also this particular car has air suspension and for 2007 LS 460 it is not the best option, it might get really expensive really quick. You will be overpaying for this 19 years old car as well, just because it needs to be shipped across half of the world. Hardly worth it. There are better ones for about the same money or less.

Thanks for the information about the headlights.
I was unaware that this was possible.
P.S. I am in Australia, not the USA.
The car linked to is about "on the money" in the Aussie market, especially in view of the very low distance travelled.
It is a much smaller market than the USA, but there is a strong following of Grey Imports.
More so since the domestic manufacture of Australian cars ceased finally in 2017, which was a very sad day.
When selling used cars 25 years ago I received a good grounding in them when working in a Japanese Import yard.
Since then, I have been impressed with JDM cars.
I had the opportunity to test drive lots of fantastic cars that I would never otherwise have had access to.
I applied the rationale of my username to the process.

Didn't realize you're from Australia. My bad. That makes more sense then. Try to avoid air suspension though. These things are known to fail due to the old age and the repair cost might be spectacular.
Not that I would do the conversion myself if I did end up buying a 460(I'm still undecided between 460 or 600), but here are some conversion wiring looms on eBay:
At least I am now reasonably certain that the conversion is actually quasi legitimate, rather than some "Heath Robinson"/"Rube Goldberg" type of "lash up".

Yes. Looks like the harness I've seen before. It is quasi legitimate. LOL. Here's another 2007 LS 460 with this mod. This one is here in the States. Not sure about his inboard projectors though. Might be those infrared lamps for the pedestrian detection system.
What I was trying to say, but being slightly overwhelmed at the time by setting up my new freezer, was that I am quite averse to modified electrical systems.
I don't like the smell of burning wires and plastic.
The harnesses I linked to, whilst generally looking reasonably well made, are all non-genuine, so there is always a risk of electrickery.
My current car, 2004 Mitsubishi Magna AWD(USA Diamante) is absolutely 100% stock in the electrical department.
No aftermarket stereos/amps, no tow bars, no driving lights, no mobile phone kits, no GPS, nothing.
All I have is a plug in FM radio dongle to play my USB music stick.
In the 11 years that I have owned it it has been exceptionally reliable, with almost no electrical surprises or gremlins.
A failed alternator, replaced 4 years ago with new genuine, has been it's only electrical problem, other than the associated failed battery.
I Intend to treat whatever LS I buy in much the same way if I can manage it.
