The don't suck at all if you can afford the good ones.....or have enough basic skills to keep them running.
Sweetie, you ever hear of "planned obsolescence"? "Enough basic skills to keep them running" for American/German cars means replace the entire engine.

If you actually read the back-and-forths, you will see that I have stated a few times that I have no loyalty towards one brand or another. All I really care about is reliability and longevity. I'll go into any lane by choice or force, but either way, I'm coming in
Even when you keep them long term. I know many people with German cars that are quite old and I don't know anybody that has had to replace an engine. Striker has 10+ year old Audis with 100k+ miles and hasn't replaced any of their engines. I myself have owned American cars with over 200k miles and have never replaced an engine. I did replace a transmission.

How would you know if you only lease vehicles? What's your definition of "long term"? And good for Striker. He may be the 1 exception to the majority. I've said a few times in previous posts the older American/German cars were solid. Starting 2000's is when they started turning into sh!tboxes.

Because I know other people who own cars, and I read and post on forums for those cars. The "majority" of people absolutely do not have to replace engines. 2000 was 25 years ago, I'm not talking about cars built before that. American cars have gotten dramatically better since the 2000s. The 80s and 90s were a terrible time for American cars.
They are just nowhere near as "unreliable" as you make them out to be.
I'm really surprised his centric rotors and centric ceramic pads warped. I ran that setup on both my LS460s and it totally solved the warping, and I'm pretty hard on brakes.

Yep, and a friend of a friend whose sister's mother's brother's grandparents apparently said the same thing.
The unreliability aspect isn't my opinion. The chart you previously posted ranks American/German cars as one of the worst. Look it up and you will find this to be the general consensus.

It absolutely is your opinion, and the chart I posted said nothing of the kind. It ranked many German and American carmakers as above average in reliability and above several Japanese carmakers and showed the #2 highest rated carmaker was American.
Here is the chart with all the German and American carmakers highlighted that are above average. Of the 12 carmakers rated above average, 7 are German and American and only 4 are Japanese. Your thinking is just not aligned with reality.

Once again, according to your chart, right under "Brank Ranking", it states "Problems per 100 vehicles". So I guess according to your chart, Lexus outranks everyone in terms of reliability? As I have also stated before, I'm not a fanboy of Toyota/Lexus.
Sucks for Striker, as Audi is ranked really low and VW is ranked last in your chart. Das NOT Auto.

Yes it does. I have never disputed that. You drive vehicles rated below average for reliability and you seem to be fine, thats my point. You and I both have selected vehicles that are rated below average for reliability and we are happy.
The fact that Lexus is #1 doesn't mean #2 is garbage lol. Would you trade your Nissans for Toyota Corollas? You should since all you seem to care about is reliability.

Except that his experience is that they are plenty reliable. Don't just look at ratings, try some stuff for yourself.

You are taking a chart that specifically states problems per every 100 vehicles and one that doesn't rank on reliability itself, but went with your chart for the sake of the argument. Again, going by your chart, Mercedes and Chrysler are really at the bottom of the list, with Chrysler being 2nd to last. I'm also really curious to see the nature of these issues. Find that out for me and keep us posted.
Without reliability, what do you have? Your Mercedes MSRP is close to $130K, and if it has a bunch of **** wrong with it and/or doesn't work, is Mercedes smart for somehow being able to sell a pile of **** at a premium or are you a dumb@$$ that bought into their gimmick?

1 person on a forum versus the general consensus. That chart you posted also states otherwise. There's plenty of other credible sources that also share the same sentiment. I'll use the experiences of the vast majority and use as my guide. Not going to spend $ on garbage.
What do you think “problems” are? That study is literally called the “Vehicle Dependability Study”. It’s a measure of reliability. More problems per 100 vehicles means less reliable. Like I said before we both have cars that are rated below average for reliability and we are both happy with them. That tells you reliability ratings don’t tell you the whole picture. But, any other rating source that shows my cars are below average in reliability also shows your cars are below average in reliability. So I guess we’re both duped and we both spent money on "Garbage"
Here is Consumer Reports, and Nissan is ranked below multiple German and American brands, just as it is by JD Power. Whats your argument as to why THIS source means nothing?
My Mercedes works great lol. If you’re going to start calling me names though we’re done. You want to have a respectful adult conversation I’m all for it.
