Pioneer speaker replacement
My question is, is the front door speaker and dash tweeter wired together on a single channel from the amp making that a 4ohm channel???
The rear door speaker is 4 ohm and there is no tweeter so I assume that makes the amp channels 4ohm?
If my theory is correct then I could disconnect the dash tweeter and run a 4ohm component speaker with a tweeter in the door instead...
I bought a Polk split 4 ohm speaker and just used the speaker and installed it into the stock housing after cutting the original speaker out .
Going from 2 ohm to 4 ohm is fine and no need to disconnect the stock tweeter .
The speaker was a HUGE improvement over the standard speaker !!
I do not understand why you would replace the foam when you can just install a replacement that is so much better than the original .
Best to use a slit speaker so that its not a dual or triple cone .Took me about an hour to do the first one and 20 min to do the second one .
Old speaker cut out .
New speaker mounted in frame .

I will post up results once installed but i hope this is an affordable stock replacement that works!
I could have had them repaired for $65 per speaker + $50 postage (total $310 AUD) so for $130 more I have new speakers.

2 ohm front speakers
used standard toyota - 6.5 inch adapters but required moving one of the mounts, I drilled an 11mm hole in the spot which was good enough to take the square mount and stay in place.
I then raided the old speaker for the connector and ran a wire through the nearby grommet.
all done!
and a very similar install
So far happy with the sound improvement, I am not an audiophile by any description but I have noticed and improvement
