Just picked it up and as well as the radio not working, neither the tape player or the CD is working either. Power is going to both but the CD door won't open to load and the tape player does not seem to do anything. They were both working before.

I had them hold off as I need my car back now and they indicated it would take another 2 hours to run it properly. I can live without crappy local radio to be honest but would like it working optimally for the next guy and to appease my OCD
I ran my wire very easily around top moldings and stuck it top center of back windshield and don't even see. Now they have to take it back apart to plug in antenna.

Update on EKIY KK5 for LS 430.

I set the CANBUS type to the correct one they showed and I can still not control the AC.

Their installation instructions they send you are not specific to this car and also to the wiring harness they send you.

I am very disappointed in this kit and do not recommend others to buy from EKIY.

On the EKIY model I installed, the CD changer works, but I didn't have any tapes to test the tape deck with. For the FM antenna I don't remember if I bothered doing anything with it or not because once you have internet radio available, FM radio is all but useless. The factory FM tuner is in the trunk and I read that's where the antenna connection is, so if you want to use it you'd have to run an antenna wire all the way back there. I didn't bother with that, I think I may have stuck a small aftermarket antenna on the back of the Android unit just to pick up emergency broadcasts.

I bought that exact same head unit for my previous LS430 and had no real problems setting it up. At first the app that controls the AC would not appear, but that was because I had hooked it up wrong. Once I corrected the plugs and connected the head unit to WiFi, the AC app automatically downloaded and set itself up and is still working to this day. I sold that car to a friend and have a different LS430 now, but I still see that car from time to time. Make sure your head unit is connected to WiFi for the setup.

There are also a lot of videos on YouTube showing how/where/which plugs to connect. I think I watched most of them, even then ones in Arabic (I don't speak Arabic). This is important because there is a certain plug that can be connected on the LS430 but it should not be connected or else some or all of the AC controls will not work. That is the one I had an issue with. Unfortunately, I don't remember which plug it was.

The wiring harness they send you is for Toyota/Lexus. It is not specific to the LS430 because it includes connections for cars with and without can bus audio/AC controls. From what I have seen, every Android head unit for the LS430 is this way and not just EKIY, so you would have the same kit and plugs with all of them.

Do you have an AC app. Also on there website description there are 3 connectors they say do not plug in. Also do not plug in obd II connector as that causes problems.

Hello All,
Great thread. I am looking for an android headunit for my 2004 LS430 (facelift model) with factory nav

I am trying to choose between the Seicane and the EKIY KK5 since they both seem to respond to support. Can someone who has used either please help?

Summarizing my Questions:
1. does the AC controls work and show temp in degress F?
2. I need the CD and tape to work, yes I still use them every now and then.
3. Does the Lexus parking assist/parking sensor display on these new screens? I have not found any one mention about this.
4. Do the aftermarket rear view camera that come with the unit work well?
5. Does the Mark Lev subwoofer still work?
5. Anything else compared to factory screen that is not working or lost?

Oh, some of them provide a "dvr", anyone tried those and is it worth?
thanks much

Thanks!

Glad you are looking into doing this as it modernizes the electronics. Mine is not what looking at but all are similar.
1 AC works no F and doesn't show correct temp setting. Using side controls works fine but don't get to see setting
2 Yes
3 No but still on instrument cluster
4 Yes HD
5 Can't think of anything..you will need to buy a $6 antenna from amazon that is easy to install..good radio app and like better than oem which is option also

My answers are slightly different than Alextvs.

1. AC controls work but to adjust the individual temp you must use the buttons on the dash. In my friends car the temp setting does show but can not be adjusted on the screen.
2. Yes for CD, never tested the tape player.
3. The parking assist did show up on the screen for me. I was surprised when it did it while I was intentionally getting close to a light pole.
4. Never tried it.
5. Yes, but you must set the subwoofer level how you want it before installing the android head unit because I did not find a way to adjust that on the Android.
6. There were questions about how to reset the cabin filter change notification without the factory head unit installed (never figured that out). Either the defogger or defroster didn't work, I can't remember which because it's not my car. Other people report the defogger and defroster working fine with theirs so maybe I messed up with one of the plugs. The AC control app did not appear until I connected the head unit to WiFi so it could download the appropriate AC app. The EKIY unit I installed came with GPS and 4G antennas but no FM antenna. I didn't bother connecting an FM antenna because FM radio wasn't desired.

While I was impressed with the fit and functionality of the android unit, for myself in my own LS430 I'll either be doing something entirely custom, or a Grom. I would have already gotten a Grom but it irks me to pay so much money for android hardware that is very outdated (only 2gb of memory and Android 8).

DrVlikhell,
thanks, very interesting that the park assist showed up? Could you get me a picture if at all from your friend? And does the temperature values display in F?

I too was looing at the grom. But the price is a huge rip off for that measly specs they have. and I am not happy with the factory review view camera esp at night (I was wondering if the rear view cam from say a Ls640 can be plug and play on the LS430 and give some improvement).

Sorry, I can't get a picture from my friend, I haven't seen him in a long time. If I remember right, temp readings can be set to F or C. I wouldn't count on an aftermarket backup camera being much better than a stock camera since the camera connection is only an RCA plug, so likely 320p or 480i resolution at best. And probably not 480i since that's the maximum for an RCA plug and the signal has a long way to go past a lot of stuff with interference. Unless you have little kids or pets constantly playing around the back of your car, I wouldn't be very concerned about a backup camera. My car doesn't even have one.

Also keep in mind that even people who buy from the same sources sometimes have different experiences. You may not have the same experience that I did with my friends car, especially since that was an 01 model. It's better to have an overall idea of how these things can work and keep your expectations open and not focused on having or not having specific things. It's an upgrade for sure, but it will have quirks, they all do.

Remember Y Pb Pr on tv sets with rca plug over coax. That was 1080p HD. The 4k camera that came with mine looks super sharp on screen.

You're right, that's 'component video' with the three separate analog cables. They can do 1080i resolution because each cable is carrying 1/3rd of the video signal. If you have a 4k camera it must be using HDMI because there's no commercial analog video connection that will go higher than 1080i. You would also need an HDMI input on the head unit. I don't remember the EKIY having an HDMI input for a backup camera. It did come with a backup camera that was a regular, single RCA composite video camera, which I did not install. However, on the head unit that I installed for my friend, the screen is only a 720p resolution so a 4k camera wouldn't do much good there. Some of the Teyes models claim to have a 2k screen, which is about 1440p, so a 4k camera would even be a bit overkill for that. I'm also skeptical when I see Chinese made cameras say 4k on them because usually the image sensor is actually 720p and they just increase the resolution in software to get to a 4k resolution, which is very much not the same as having a legit 4k resolution image sensor. But in the end, as long as it's clear enough to not back over your neighbors kids, that's good enough.

Sorry, I'm an AV/home theater guy... I'll go back to my toys now.

To be more correct on mine I looked back and I opted for the 1280/720 screen and camera settings were set for 720. 4k camera did come with it but agree no telling what it is. All looks good on the 9 inch screen. Thought I had bought the higher resolution screen but I didn't because such a small screen. All of these especially AC controls work a little different. I do wish I could see temp setting but dealing with it.
