so i sent this to supplier in china on whattsapp to explain i want to be able to start launcher in the one i downloaded and not the factory car one... and i alsi asked if any firmware updates... there must be something as the first round rom was so poor ??? ... https://drive.google.com/file/d/1YbZ...ew?usp=sharing
so i got this... did i waste my money ?... can anyone confirm fitting to help me... thanks
That is really weird that you're not getting reception as the factory tuner that's in the trunk is doing all of the radio work
Did your factory radio work good before good reception? Maybe that connector got unplugged at the tuner that's in the trunk on the right side check that first
but that is the correct harness that you bought but you will also need about 16 ft of an extension cable going from the trunk where you will connect that harness that you bought to the actual Android head unit

I have not touched anything in the boot and radio worked fine as far as i can remember... i used my android head unit most of the time.... have to see it anything got disturbed... thanks for reply ... i take it its all well and good to run rear cam cable at the same time ..... i do miss that.... and im forgetting things like outside temp... we just lost those ? ... and my sat nav in the boot ... that us now i take it.... thanks again
if you guys aren't getting any radio on this app - that is ok, it only gets signal if you hook up external (old school) antenna to the unit, or an adapter i guess
the factory wiring sends signal to this app, which is i believe in the "old car" app, or should come up by default after you hit the FM button on your deck below the tape deck
Hey guys can you please let me know... Does your head unit reset even after you set the accessory power to 2 hours
I measured my voltage at the tjeee constant /yellow wire
and I'm getting 10 volts at crank
my head unit always resets even if I drive for 5 minutes and then try to start the car again and wondering if it's my battery or are all our cars like that and I need to get a DC voltage booster
If you guys can let me know that would be great thanks
So guys... might as well close this thread... so many loose ends... cant help you with head unit reset.... and i still cant changeopening app from what they set... the rom rewrite they did was ok... but not a class job... needs a dev to rewrite the little black box... i would pay for better settings... pinky

I
Just wanted to give you an update
I did figure out the low voltage problem
I ordered a voltage stabilizer which keeps a constant voltage on the output =13 V
if the input is anywhere from 8 to 15v and now the radio works great does not reset I'm actually pretty happy with the unit
yes there are drawbacks = I would definitely pay to reprogram the firmware so that we could get the original OEM backup camera to work with the screen and also the parking sensors to show up on a screen that would be amazing...
But I can keep dreaming
otherwise I am pretty happy with the head unit
although it could be a little faster but that's due to the processor And the cost would probably be 3 times as much but who knows

MrPink What issues are you having?
I,m glad to see you have made so much progress with this. I have been watching this for a long time. I'm on the fence because sound quality is very important to me. I was wondering what this unit sounds like. I see from the seller's description. This unit can playback FLAC files as well as other formats. I would like to bring my beautiful LS into the modern world but I am quite fond of the sound the ML system provides. The system images well and has a nice response for a factory system. I would just like to add some more authority to the bottom octave. What is the voltage output from the RCA audio outs?

nice to hear from you guys... has anyone made constant contact with supplier and asked if any firmware update is even being thought of... i doubt it very much... they tend to want and use sell and forget in the bulk Chinese side of things.... but if we say we will pay !!!!!! ... a whole diff game for them.
Not trying to shill but have you guys who have factory Nav looked into the GROM VLine?
There were some issues early on, but they have been fewer and further between, plus they offer domestic support that actually addresses the issues.
I have had mine for almost 3 years and could not imagine not having at this point. If anything ever happened I would have a new one installed in short order.
Mr pink ... Please keep us posted if the manufacture replies gets their answer from the mythical "engineers"
the audio coming out of the unit is a very clean and clear signal very impressed
I will measure the voltages on me RCA outputs when I go to install my system... hopefully pretty soon
I got this radio head unit wI to be part of my SQ audio installation and I was going to run a dac from the head unit to the amps however I believe I don't even need a dac because the signal is so nice and clear
also as far as grom goes that was my 2nd choice but this thing is so much better than the original screen that I wouldn't you wanna think about usining the original screen

I hear you. That's the one thing that bugs me sometimes. Through CarPlay the resolution is quite good. Definitely not HD, but performs better than I would expect for a 15 year old resistive touch screen.
I just like having the OEM feel, I've been watching this thread and considered this as a replacement, but it seems a little too technical for my abilities...def would consider if I were a little more hands on.
