Default 2 quality serp belts on closeout at Rockauto

I'm replacing the bearing in my tensioner pulley so I was poking around in the belt drive section at Rockauto...
They currently have a DAYCO serp belt on closeout for $10.91 and a Gates for $10.96. Both are quality belts but only 1 of ea left at that piice.

Only belts I consider to be good are the quiet channel belts. Continental or Goodyear.

I like Goodyear Gatorback, I think now it is Continental? I have not buy belt for a while so not sure tbh, but it does seems to be quieter than regular belt design. I have used them in the last 4 cars I have owned.

I think we are talking about the same thing with the 'quiet channel'.

Butler Lexus of South Atlanta sells 2 for the 430 and oddly enough each belt has a brand name association...
9091602585 Bando $80.36
9091602586 Mitsuboshi $47.68

Here's where I wish the Japanese did the OE/OEM/aftermarket thing. A Bando on amazon is like $20, but it's clearly made in USA so not identical to a Lexus OE which should be made in Japan. With the German cars and American to some extent, one can in fact know if the $20.66 Bando is the same as the $80.36 Bando that has the Lexus name.

Myself, I bet my car on the fact that they are lol (they probably are not but good enough--the package even says OEM supplier)

Now I really have my curiosity going..................I'm wondering who the actual manufacturer is for the Lexus timing belt? I happen to have a Gates timing belt (no choice for me as it was done prior to my purchase) which I know is a belt made for Mitsubishi. Anyone have a clue on the timing belt manufacturer for the LS430?

This is prime rabbit hole material if you choose to take the dive!
Take a look at YODA's thread- https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...eficiency.html
Nothing wrong with the Gates TB in your car. Gates has made quality products for many many years...

From above, it seems to be either Bando or Mitsoboshi. I'm just curious if the amazon Bando is identical to the Lexus OE Bando, without the package and name. I don't think so. To contrast, a Bosch and BMW spark plug are in fact identical, except that the Bosch is green, and the BMW is blue. It is 100% transparent that they are the identical part, as is a brake sensor wire, $32 for BMW, $13 for PEX, who makes it for BMW. People on the BMW forum really debate it...do I get the BMW water pump in the blue box, or do I go with Continental in the yellow box, when they do in fact make the part for BMW and save $200....it's a real question and depends on the owner of the car.

I'm ok with the amazon Bando, and have used all gates hoses and belts on my Maxima. Good chance all are fine, just depends on how much one wants to pay. Me, $20.66 lol

edit you said timing--I believe that's Mitsoboshi. Bando is the serpentine.
