Hey all,
I didn't get my gas cap snug a couple weeks ago triggered the VSC/ Check engine light that we all know. The lights are still on, do I need to clear the error code?

This was an OEM cap I put on the car about a year ago, so I assume the cap i still good.

 

Did you actually read the code or are you guessing? It it was truly the loose gas cap that caused the code it will eventually clear out on its own once it has been tightened. You can of course clear the error yourself but if you haven't read the code yet I wouldn't do that until I read what the car is trying to tell you...

 

I actually had the l cuff on gas cap seize up so I can say that the cap wasn't clicked fully. So yes Im leaping to conclusion on the gas cap thing. I'll try to get the codes read and cleared tomorrow - going to finally warm up.

 

what year is your car? pre 2004s there's a way to jump the pins. you can search this forum and you should find it easy. if not the easiest way i did it was to un hook the positive battery terminal and it would clear.
