One tooth
Lots of posts on timing belt - but I can’t locate specific discussion on timing belt skipping one tooth during installation. Can one someone point me to a link or explain this?
I’m guessing it has something to do with keeping proper tension on the belt during installation?
TIA

how it happens or the symptoms of timing off one tooth?
I may be wrong on this but its my understanding that the timing is controlled by lining up the timing marks of the gears I don't think the belt has anything to do with it unless the belt moved a gear and changed the timing marks. Don't know how that happens just my 2 cents
It can happen to an older car when the tensioner leaks. It could also happen if a belt stretched but I would think it would snap.
attention to detail will avoid installing the belt one tooth off.
check the marks, check them again, then check it a third time.
pull the pin on the tensioner and check the marks again.
thats how I do it...
very satisfying when you take her for that first drive and all is good!
