Question Young owner European LS430 factory DRL

Hi,

Three months ago, I bought a LS430 04 from a car dealer with only 52k in almost perfect condition. This is my first V8 engine (came from a good old inline 4). I don't use as a daily because here the gas price is rising... and I need to refuel every week (approx. $140 a tank).
It's the european version of the LS430, so it doesn't come with factory DRL. I wonder if there is a way to activate factory DRL. Something like a fuse or a programmation with the TechStream ? I brought the car to a Lexus dealer and he wasn't able to activate them.

Is it even possible with the European version ?

You should be able to switch it On and Off with TechStream...

I've already tried this solution but the TechStream was not able to connect to my car properly... It did not seem to recognize the car, I had to enter manually the model and the year. After that I never saw the DRL function in the programming section, is it because it's an european version (in France no need to have DRL before 2010) ? Or its an TechStream issue ?

I will try to go further with TS..

I also have a european version and it does not list DRL function On/Off at CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS.
I think it was not available for Europe.

I think so, but is it a software restriction of the TechStream or the car? I don't know...
I was also looking for the automatic door lock while driving but the option does not exist either.

Your other option is to re-wire the fog light (see red arrows) as DRL. That is, to bypass the original relay with a jumper to power these lights directly whenever the ignition is ON.

Take a look at the link below...

Starting on Post #20 for instructions.

Thanks I think I will use a similar wiring but not to power fog light (the inadvertent use of anti-fog is illegal where I live)
Instead I will use a module for dimming the high beam (like in Canada) with auto turn-off when low beam are on

Infortunatly the european version hasn't orange side-marker in the corner of the head light

So I used to have a 99 camry and read that you could turn off the DRL on that car by engaging the handbrake before putting in the key, you then starting the car, putting it in D and lower the handbrake to not have the DRL on, I tried it today with my 02 ls430 and it worked until I released the parking brake...
