Default Headlights on off

I have a 2003 ULshould the head lights go off when the car is turned off in manual mode. I know they go off when in Auto. mode. All my other cars always shut off when the car is shut off in any mode. Please don't tell me this is normal. Thank You

The LS430 has a default 30-second headlight OFF delay. This delay setting can be changed to OFF/30/60/90 seconds. The manual "HEAD" or "AUTO" headlight mode should behave the same for time delay.

I keep my lights on auto, but even in manual on mode they turn off when the car is off and the driver door opens. I'm guessing this is a setting that can be changed in techstream

I accidentally left my lights on for days, meaning I drove here and there for days, with the switch in the on position, and the lights turned off I guess in the same number of seconds that they would in auto....

Default Auto headlights off

Where is the sensor for the headlights to automatically turn off. They do not shut off in any position

I know if you have a bad door switch the headlights will stay on if it is not in auto mode, I'm not sure if that is the same for when in auto.. the headlights do not turn off immediately when in auto as mentioned above, if you lock the car with the remote and then press lock a second time the headlights should turn off.

The delay after you lock the car is so you have lights to get wherever you are going after get out. My suggestion, Just leave the lights set to auto and forget about the on/off switch. You only need that when the battery appears to being low. Try to crank with a low battery and if the lights are turned on, they will rapidly fade out.
