Default Oil filter

Is there a plate under the engine that protects the oil filter. I changed the oil this week end
and noticed hold exposed the oil filter is to possible road damage. My LS 430 is missing this shield.

Are you missing the engine splash shield? Here's what it looks like:

How about this link? If it doesn't work, Google for LS430 engine splash shield and you'll get lots of results.

NOTE: The engine splash shield for the '01-'03 is different than the '04-'06.

I have a small square fold down cover made into my splash shield I thought about cutting that section out just so I can remove that oil filter without taking the screws and cover shield off every time just to pull off the filter.

I jack my car up just enough so I can fold the square section 180 degrees.
