Default Where to install Abutment Clips

So piggy backing off my issues with the shims yesterday.

I decided to go with an aftermarket set of brake pads. I have never needed to use abutment clips in the past but it turns out these come with a set of 2 for the rear and a set of 2 for the front.

Upon review it seems they should go on the pad as they are too small for the caliper and there is no contact point where they would go.

The problem is I cant figure out where on the pad they should be placed.

I purchased a set of CarQuest Wearever Platinum Professional Brake Pads. The clip is a small (less than 1 inch) clip. If anyone can explain where these would be placed on the brake pad it would be greatly appreciated as I have searched the internet non stop since yesterday. Please excuse the noob question.

Is it this small clip? It looks like it goes next to where the sensor clips into.

Just tried that and it fits in there perfectly. I cant for the life of me understand how this would be an Abutment Clip... in reality it just holds the brake ware sensor in place. The whole time the package it as something to keep your pad in place and eliminate and play in the pad. I cant believe after building a race car that this is the crap thats troubling me on my DD. Over this issues, over this thread, thank you everyone for confirming im an idiot when it comes to pads.
