Default Navigation Upgrade

Does anyone know how to upgrade the navigation system without paying the outrageous price at the dealer for the disc? You can buy a navigation system for less than they want just for the disc.

If you're going to have latest version, you're going to pay top $$$. Say you have version 5, why pay for upgrade 12 when getting 10 which has much more than 5, on Ebay for say $99 instead of $200 for latest.

Has anyone explored just removing the Nav/Radio and installing a new one (secondary market)? I'm seriously considering that with my 2002 ES 300.

Surely, you must be kidding ?!?!?! Has anyone traded in their lobster and mignon during a surf and turf for the a filet'o fish and bigmac instead?

If i had an ES, I MIGHT look into the Genesis or Equos, which i assume are the Hyundais you are alluding to and not a Sonata or Optima.

Trade down from the LS? HAHAHA, is it April 1st already?

Not everyone actually needs an upgrade. An upgrade includes new roads and road changes (completions of expressways, etc) and changes of Points of Interest. I rarely use POI but was anxious to upgrade when the new nearby expressway was completed.

You can go to the Lexus web site and find a detail listing of all the changes by state. You can then decide if an upgrade is worth the money.
