Default drop the mufflers

have a 2004 430. Has anyone dropped the mufflers and ran a straight pipe to the resonators? Trying to get more sound but don't want to sound like a race car.

Thanks! Now I am going to drop the mufflers, mine will still have the resonators so won't even be as load as the clip.

Thanks!
Marc

You will lose all comfort, as most probably you will have harsh vibration in the cabin, when revving the engine....

there is a good chance that he won't lose all of his comfort. have you ever ridden in an ls 430 with no mufflers? the car will not have much to vibrate, considering how they are made.

My friend cut off the mufflers and resonators on his 95 LS400 and it sounded amazing. It is pretty loud, but it has a very deep and aggressive sound to it.

It might be a little loud, but you'll probably like the sound without the mufflers.

Have you ridden in an ls 430 without the mufflers? Was there vibration, i plan on leaving the resonators on, but this one post did make me hesitate.

Thanks

It's also worse when you are decelerating and coming to a stop. I had a shop cut the mufflers and weld on a flange that would allow me to take them off but I don't plan on doing that much.

I was in your situation with my 95. Initially I removed resonators and ran pipe to OEM mufflers. The sound was improved but definitely not loud outside or in the cabin. Finally I removed all resonators and ran new pipe to Magnaflow's. The sound now is much louder but I really don't care. The exterior look is obviously not OEM so the much louder sound does not bother me. After going with 4" x 10" tips the resonance got deeper - It is a one off sound and I like it now.

I would remove the resonators and run pipe to OEM mufflers. For $50 to $100 it is a decent upgrade.

Sounded like taking the resonators off wasn't enough, I wonder how it would sound with resonators on and magnaflow free flow mufflers?

There's a member here that's done a full cat back magna flow exhaust here and it sounds great, can't remember his user name but it was a wrapped flat white ucf30.

loudness is realative. what i think is acceptable, you may not. you really need a decibel meter to be accurate.

Actually removing the resonators and running new pipe was a decent change - you could definitely hear it - nice rumble. However, I wanted more so I removed all of them and went with the Magnaflow's minus all resonators.

Magnaflow's with (2) resonators installed would probably not be that noticeable at least for the cash outlay IMO. I would start with muffler delete just before rear assembly first. If you like it then you could simply run new pipe with tips to the bumper or keep OEM mufflers and remove resonators.

I just wanted a sound to match the look - it sounds really cool now especially with the 4" tips
