Issue on resuming cruise control
The laser is broken so I use the bypass to set standard cruise control. However if the speed drops below 24mph (slow down/stop at lights etc) it looses the preset and wont resume. Is this normal when using the laser bypass or is it a design feature eeven with laser adaptive working?
The cruise controls in every Toyota and Lexus I have owned, rented or otherwise driven have lost their settings when speed drops below about 24 mph - same as what you are experiencing. It is one of my least favorite features of Toyota vehicles.
I have noticed that Ford vehicles we have rented do not lose their cruise control setting unless the engine is turned off so this must not be a regulatory requirement.

Below a certain MPH (yes, around 25-27), the cruise turns off. I have no experience like Kansas with Ford vehicles, but all the vehicles I've ever driven, the cruise do not stay on a low speeds.
Don't worry, it's not broken.

Every Ford, Olds, Mazda, BMW, Buick, Sterling, etc. I have owned has retained the cruise setting EXCEPT my Lexus. It's not mandated by US regulation and apparently not by Japanese regulation either since my Mazdas did not loose the cruise setting.
so i have your issue too where my laser is broken so i have to disable the laser cruise and just use the standard cruise but often times i forget to set it before driving off. i have found that at low low speeds like under 20mph i can still push cruise on and disable the laser to use the standard cruise but at anything over 20mph and it dings and says laser broken or something to this effect and won't let me use the cruise at all. but just 2 days ago i was going like 32 and i was able to turn on cruise and disable laser/radar thing with no problems. have you ever experienced this and at what speeds can you disable yours at??
Mine too! Previas and the ls400.
My wife's Nissan Xtrail retains the last set speed untill switched off. So taking off from stopping get above 24mph(40Kmph) hit the resume.... anyway glad to know is ot broken. BTW my replacement used laser control should be here soon, from Ebay bought for $599.
As long a I don't try to engage cruise above 24mph its fine.Anything above that DING "check cruise sytem" and nothing will reset it till I switch the engine off. The radar needs to be disabled below 24 mph(40kmph) period.I've tried above 24mph it doesn't work.

Today I recieved the Laser control module. Installed the unit and it works like a dream. My drive to work is now going to be that much more pleasurable. I am really impressed. Just need to play around with the settings to find which will suit the driving conditions best.
I will double check this, but to the best of my knowledge I do not lose cruise control settings on my LS430 even after going through a drive-thru for example (somewhere where I would stop, but not shut off the engine).
My cruise control remember my setting after I come to a stop and then will resume on command. Although I don't know the exact speed if it is speed limited. I prefer to accelerate as I normally do and then activate the resume when I am within 5 mph of my set speed.
The LS430 cruise does retain the speed that it was last at, even if you step on the brake or disengage it manually (pull toggle towards you), but not turned off.
So, if you have it at 57 say, and then you've come to a stop and start to accelerate. Once you get to about 40 mph, hit the toggle up and it will resume the 57 mph.

Absolutely right Guys. Today I experimented and as long as you dont shutoff the engine as soon as your speed gets above 24mph(40kmph) hit the resume and it gets back to the last set speed. Won't work if radar is disabled. I don't have the sup[plement manual for the adaptive cruise control, need to read up on that somewhere, but this system really rocks.
