Default Cruise Control Resume

My cruise control resume doesn't seem to be working right. For the most part it works normal if I have to slow for some reason it sets normal and cancels normal but if I have to come to a complete stop or slow under a certain MPH say 20 for train tracks it won't resume. It will resume fine if I don't stop or slow down that far. It has done this with a new cruise control computer and the old one. Normal??

Yes, normal. Under 25mph.

Even if I accelerate back to 60 or so and then hit it. The memory should still keep the 65 cruise speed. I shouldn't have to "set" the cruise speed again. I'm not asking for the cruise to accelerate me up to speed again, just set me where I want to be once near the cruise speed.

You have to re-set the speed...

That is plain weird, never on another vehicle I had, did you have to do that. I thought the damn thing was broken. Ok this is my only complaint on a normal functioning car.

Seems that when ever you touch the brake (95 ls400) that it cancels what ever speed it was set to so when you hit resume it won't resume the previous speed. However, when I have not touched the brake to slow down/cancel using the cruise lever it will resume fine. Drove me nuts for awhile till I played with it enough to figure it out. Is it normal? Don't really know but that's how mine works.

7schulz, what you describing is how it was designed. If you fall below 25 mph, it will clear whatever speed was stored.

rburg, what you said is not true in my '97.

One gripe I have about my cruise control is that it resumes speed too aggressively!

Glad to hear that your 97 dosen't do that amcdonal86. Don't know if this is how it's supposed to work on a 95 or not, however, that is how mine works.

That is interesting. I tested it today just to make sure, and mine will resume even if the brakes were used to cancel it.

I wonder why the '95 would be different.

This is the first Lexus I have owned so I don't know if this is how it was designed or if there is a malfunction somewhere. It has 283,000 miles on it so I certainly would not rule it out. It did take some getting used to. Have driven Chevy trucks for the last 16 yrs and they are very different so I found myself turning the cruise off when I was trying to set it. Arrrrgh!

Electro repair conductive grease into the cavities of the plug on the module. All systems now go.

All toyotas are like this once you stop you have to reset the cruise set point (I have 4 toyotas and they all react this way at least between 1992 and 2000)

Sam, I guess they figured it to be a "safety feature", so that somebody doesn't inadvertantly hit the stalk in a school zone and go rocketing through a crosswalk. But it is a pain in the behind in big city travel, constantly having to re-set after stop lights. Does anybody know if it can be re-programmed to disable the disable? LOL
