Default Bearing Replacement

My 2001 LS430 has 48,000 miles and my front left bearing is going out. It wines at various speeds. I've had the problem confirmed by two shops. Anybody else have this problem with so few miles driven?

Unhappy

I made the mistake of taking my 2003 ultra with 65k to firestone 11/2008 for the lifetime alignment... well they took me for the $75 and another $150 to replace a lower control arm bushing on the left side ( they gave me back a piece of steel ??? ) then they said I also had to replace the right side.
Lexus wanted $490
that is why my car pulls so hard to the right. ( worst than B4 the repair )
I have brought the car back twice since and nothing done and I can't afford the $200 more to fix right now.

I'm so unhappy, and lots of other things need to be done ( brakes, timing belt, plugs, etc ) out of work since xmas

thanks for listening

Firestone is a joke and their techs suck at alignment...

If I read you right, you had 65K back in 11/2008, how many miles have you driven since? You won't need the timing belt and plugs until well into 100K. Brakes you want to do when necessary, but the others can wait.

as of today, I have 76,208
a friend looked at my pads and said I still have lots of meat (10-15k)
I can't belive I'm getting over 75k on the org brakes. I used to change my pads on my 92 camry every 50k.
I will wait. ( does my car have the interference engine? )

thanks

My 2001 LS430 had a similar problem at 75K miles. It was making cyclic/harmonic sounds anywhere from 25-80MPH. Happily, it was under warranty.

Sorry to hear you're having a tough time right not, but hang in there!

You *should* be fine on the timing belt until at least 100K miles -- that's when Toyota recommends replacing them.

The 430 engine is an interference engine, IIRC.
