2001 LS430 UL - about time to replace the tires. Recomendations on tire replacements and approximate cost?

I've only got about 1500 miles of experience on them, as I just got the vehicle, but the tires are new Continental ContiProContact and they drive very smooth and are fairly quiet. They seem to run about $120 each at places like Tirerack.com. You may try discounttires.com also as they some times offer free shipping, so do some shopping.

Obviously I have not seen winter with the tires yet, but the review on tirerack.com seem to be positive for it. I believe they were also OEM in some regions for the LS430.

So, say $500 for tires, $80 installation... $600 a set is not too bad.

I have 15K so far on my Michlin Primacy MXV4 and they are the best....smooth, quite and best ever. worth every penny and last 60K with a warranty. If you want to go cheaper, go with factory SP5000.....They key problem here is most tires change after 12K and these two dont..........
Good luck.

In digging around some, it seems like the Michlin Primacy MXV4 get great reviews all around. My main concern is getting a smooth, quiet ride and all reviews seem to indicate these will do the trick. I am sure there are others that are not quite as expensive but these are tried and true.

Had the Michelin Primacy MXV4's installed today - picking up in the morning. Hope it is a noticeable improvement. Fired up.

Default Tire replacement

I have a set of toyo versado's on my wife's avalon and they are outstanding. For the ls-430 18's they cost close to the mxv4. The mxv4 all the way.

What size? I've got 18" rims I'll need 245 45 18, and where did you get them and how much?
Tirerack or local or other?
Thanks.

Smile Michelin Tires

I recently purchased the Michelin Primacy tires at Costco. They use nitrogen and will rotate and balance every 5,000 miles or as required.

Tires are smooth and quiet. Quite happy with them.

Smile Michelin Primacy's(Just got some)

Just got the Michelin Primacy tire myself. It was the one tire that kept coming up as the tire of choice. Only drove from the dealer home so far. The traction is better than the Goodyear's I had on before. Dunlops are also good on Lexus', I had Dunlops on 3 years ago. Up until yesterday had been using Goodyears and needless to say Goodyears seemed to wear out to quick based on my experience!

Primacy's must be special as I said they were recommended on every website I checked on! Hope to drive tomorrow a little more because when I got them put on it was raining so I want a dry track to drive on to judge them even more but, the rain ride was 100% better than the Goodyears drove in the rain. Anyone who has the Mich. Primacy tires, let us know how the tires are on snow. The Continental ContiProContact that I have are quiet, but with the recent rain and fall leaves, the traction control seems to kicking in when I make some turns and that's showing me they're not going to be very good in snow.

I don't know how the Primacy's are in snow but so far they have been great down here in FL. I put them on my car about a month ago and they have performed great. They are quiet and seem to be much better overall than the Dunlops I had on the car previously.

I originally bought the Goodyear Comfortreds over the Primacys only because it was an 80K tire vs a 60K tire. Bad Idea. I put Goodyear Comfortreds on for about 1000 miles and they were VERY, VERY noisy. I would never recommend them for the LS430 even though the Goodyear brochure specifically recommends them for a LS430.

I took the car back to the tire store and had them put the Primacys on instead of the Goodyear Comfortreds. What a difference! I've had the Primacys on for 1500 miles and I love them! Michelin is definitely the way to go.
