Default 2004 LS430 Trunk Not Opening

New LS430 owner here. I did some searching through the forums but wasn't quite clear on a solution to my problem.

I opened up trunk this morning to put something in it. After my drive the trunk would not open. When hitting the button I could hear the mechanism engaging, but the trunk would not open. I then went thru the rear-seat passthru and used something to try to engage the internal trunk release to no avail.

If disconnecting the battery does not solve the issue, what could it be and what parts would be needed to get this fixed. Thanks. The forum helped when I was in the process of buying this car.

Did you try the mechanical key?

I'll try that and disconnecting the battery today. If those fails I'll have to take it in somewhere.

Thanks for the advice.

Don't disconnect battery as resetting has nothing to do with mechanism stuck. Try hitting several times while key turned. I have done this on multiple cars.

Afraid that is all I have if that doesn't work. Maybe try using a hair dryer to heat up and try hitting again. A locksmith may be able to take the lock out and spray lubricant in there. Good luck.

Think I'll try to take it to the dealership next week and see if they can figure it out. Last ditch will be getting something a little more sturdy to try and use that internal trunk release.

Very good. I am sure you are lubricating the heck out of it now to make sure doesn't happen again.
