Default Cooling system

i found that parking the car on an incline up a driveway for example helps get the bubbles out while bleeding.
also to state the obvious, make sure you have your heater cranked when doing this.

are you holding the RPMs up, as the bleed procedure states?

^ This!

That slight incline has made it easy for me and I can let it burp at idle.

I’ve put it on an incline. Heat on high ran for 20 min 2k-3k rpm and it took awhile but it got up to the bar under the red temp wise. Still no heat and coolant still full. And upper radiator hose did get hot

The lever should move when you adjust the temp from hot to cold.
If you decide to replace it have all the ancillary hoses purchased and ready when you remove the old as they will likely disintegrate upon removal.

I love how even after getting rid of the slider heater controls in the 90s the valve is still the same lever action piece.

most cars today still utilize the same action for the water control valve. the mechanism is just on a servo rather than directly connected to the slider on the dash, as such on the LS400.

Is the hose indicated by a red arrow hot enough?

Still concerned that the temp is at a higher level than typical operation. How old is the radiator?

The heater core can be flush but be careful.
