Wheel nut key dilemma
I seem to have the dreaded wheel nut key problem. My key is in bad shape and I need some help finding a replacement, but it seems to be an after market key. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Honestly, I have run into this problem on other cars, not specifically my Lexus, but same process. The way I have managed to get the nut off is by taking the appropriate size 12 point socket and just impacting the living hell out of it.
Here is a pretty good video that shows the process.
- Hope this helps

it actually looks like a Mcgard lock nut that you have.
Mcgard is a decent company who supplies to the OEMs, although the factory locking nuts are typically closed ended (not open like what you have).
wheels locks aren't designed to take impact abuse, even OE locking units.
this is what OE locking lugs should look like (and you can see they are made by mcgard!)

That looks just like my factory wheel lock key thats on my 99 LS. I would try and go to Lexus to see if they can look it up through your VIN, you might be able to get another ordered from the dealer, or at least the specific ID of your wheel lock and then contact McGard directly for a replacement to save some money in case they want to gouge you for it.
Also, if you do need to get new locks, a new set of McGard wheel locks costs about $25 at a Pep Boys, but it'll be the puzzle type vs. this male/female type.

There's also a set of sockets you can purchase that are devised to grab the nut and turn it. Of course you can't use it after that, but at least it will get it off. I think I got mine from o-Reilly's. Good luck.

I think you can get them at Autozone in their tools section. They're called Irwin Bolt out.

Thanks for all the replies! I found the key. It's an 818 Gold Leaf by McGard. Lexus was able to find that name of it, but it is no where to be found on McGard's website. So unorganized. The problem is that I need a key that does not have the metal surrounding the actual leaf shaped key. Might go to a machine shop to see if they can cut or shave the metal piece off.
