I have a 2018 LS500 Executive and I have no idea what this button/sensor is for. It is located right above the sunglasses holder and look like is glass... Any one have an idea what's its purpose is?

 

• Must be something to do with the panoramic sunroof. Mine doesn’t have it.

 

It opens the glove box where the owners manual exists.

 

Mine is a Luxury Package and has it as well.
It is actually a mirror, but have no idea if it is a 2 way mirror with a sensor behind it or not or what the functionality of it might be.

I never paid attention to it until you made this post.

That would have been good do know as part of the opening statement.
Stands to reason then that when you push the button nothing happens.
Looks like you got us all stumped.

 

It's not a button though, it looks more like a glass sensor

 

Tape over it and see if anything changes.

 

An extensive review of TIS pages does not reveal the name or function of the panel.
It is shown in drawings of other overhead console parts such as the lights and SOS button
but not highlighted or described.
