Default brake vibration 95LS400

i recently replaced the front rotors and pads at front & rear for my father's 95 LS400. we had been experiencing a pulsating in the brakes when braking & my first thought/suspicion was that the front rotors were worn & warped. Well, since i've replaced the rotors, the pulsating is still there - it's not constant (eg. doesn't pulse every time brake is applied), but is predominantly there. The only guess I can make is that the pulsating is somehow being caused by the ABS system (but i'm nowhere near locking up when braking).

Might there be a sensor causing this? or a computer to plug into and do diagnosis?

any suggestions? if not ABS, something else? steering & suspension components seemed good on inspection. Tires will be replaced within next couple of weeks.

thanks

i'm definetly sure it's not misalligned rotors. i had the brakes done by a good friend that works on Ferraris all day long - he's done a lot of brakes.

Sounds like a torched rotor. Either poor quality rotors or poor quality pads can do this. If the rotors are new, i would get them turned and a new set of GOOD pads

I'd suspect a suspension problem if it is not a constant
vibration, if it was a warped rotor it would vibrate but at all
speeds from almost nil at low low speeds and gets worst
with higher speed.

Loose suspension parts will react with braking depending on
loads , road surface, and speed . But it could vary widely as to the cause.

i'll probably just end up taking it into Lexus and have them diagnosis it.

it was vibrating before i did the brake work - which led me to doing the brake work
'cause i thought it was a warped rotor. the new parts are good quality & the problem
still exsists.

oh well....a mystery

Default Same Problem

I may be just about to embark on the same journey. My 95 LS was shimmying, an almost corduroy feeling, I got the tires balanced, TWICE and it's more minor. Nothing at 80 mph, but whenn braking from about 60 mph it gets this twitchy/corduroy shudder in the front. Definitely not losing control, but very UnLexus-like. My brother is pretty sharp, and his first guess was the rotors too.
What's next?
Michelin Tires look to have another 10,000 miles left of tread life.

Check your strut bar to see if they are worn. This may cause your front breaks to vibrate whilw breaking at higher speeds. It is just a guess. good luck.
