I actually had that happen to me because I was trying to take it apart to wire in my radar. It looked like it’s broken at first, and scared the crap out of me (it was on the 2nd day I bought my 98).
Anyhow its very simple to fix, it would make it a lot easier if you had another set of hands help you out and a power screw driver would really help.
Okay, what you do is take off those 2 screws, place the plate into to the upper part of the plastic that originally touches it when it’s installed. A metal tab locks in with the upper part that is hanging.
I know it sounds confusing, but when you take off those screws, you will see what I’m talking about. Take a good look at it for 5 minutes and you will figure it out.
PM me for more help if needed. Dont worry, we'll get you fixed up, even if i have to give you instructions over the phone

Figured it out !
GRAND_LS 4,
Thanks for your tip, after taking a better look in a more relaxed mood I figured it out.
“Slide and catch at one end and push in to catch the other end”
I did not reattach it yet because I will try to get a new metal and plastic brackets, the plastic bracket was bent a little and I am the type of person that will sell the car if I had a vibrating mirror.
“Picture attached"
Thanks Again

its only bent because you forced it open, mine was the same way, I bent it in shape, it locked well, and i never seen it vibrate till this day. It only acts as a locking mechanism. Its up to you, and trust me, things always work out when you look at them in a better, calm mood
Good luck.
Good luck.

Could not reattach Mirror assembly !
I was not able to pop the mirror assembly back in! It was a lot more complicated than I thought? Now I am confused and really pissed off after the Ravens lost to KC Chiefs.
Lexus has the metal plate, the part # is 7437230030 "SPRING, VISOR HANGER" (Image attached).
The BEST Lexus dealer in the country Sewell lexus in Dallas has it listed for $2.99
www.lexus-parts.com
Nobody can locate the plastic portion of the bracket; they all say it is part of the Mirror assembly? That is absolutely ridiculous

What you have to do is place the mirror up there, and THEN place the metal tab to lock it in, not the other way around.
Alternatively, you can physically insert the metal tab into the opening in the mirror opening to lock it in while it’s on the ground. I know it sounds confusing, but try setting the mirror on the floor, and inserting the metal tab into the mirror, it should lock in. You should be able to push the metal tab and it would not go anywhere, and that is how it holds it on the ceiling.

Rear view mirror Fixed !
Yes, You are very right but the only tip that everyone left out was that you need to remove the VISOR before installing the mirror !
After i removed the visor then i was able to insert the metal amd plastic bracket.
It is actually the best rear view mirror setup available.
N.B The auto light on the mirror is not as bright as before, It only glows at night ??
Thanks a million
The LS is da Bomb
