Once you've got the top part in you just push the bottom in and it clips back in. Takes some force

 

^^^^ what he said if you look at the back of the mirror you will see where it snaps into place.

I felt a bit uneasy when I took apart my mirror as well. But like 1sicklexus and 600rr05 said, you just need to get the top latched on first and then apply some force on the bottom part to snap it back in. It will take some force but make sure to apply an even amount on each side.
