Default 1990 LS400 - New Problem. Flickering cluster lights

My cluster lights started flickering and not sure why. All of my fuses under the hood and under the steering wheel are good. I pulled my Integration Relay and checked it, no cracks in any solder points and nothing swollen, I don't see any water damage either.

Could it just be an old relay that needs replacement anyways, possible that the cluster is on its way out completely [the needles dont work besides the gas gauge as is], or could it be an issue with wiring seeing as the vehicle was in a bad collision 2 years ago? Ive driven the car after the collision and never experienced this problem until today, so im not sure its a wiring issue. Ive tried uploading the video through the forum and it says URL invalid, so im just going to post the link here in the thread.

Sorry for your trouble. The cluster lights flickering happens when the CCFL driver or it's power supply is dying. A skilled guy would fix it replacing failing components. The highest possibility is Nichicon's P series capacitors that contain the QAS.

@Yamae you're the goat sir. I'll start looking into it immediately. If you don't mind, could you check my other thread for the same vehicle about turn signals, fog lights and lo beams not working. I could definitely use someone of your caliber to help me troubleshoot that issue or point me in the right direction. Thanks!

If I were to sell, I'd use the money for a truck honestly. I'm a foreman carpenter in the union, it would make transport of my tools and materials a lot easier.

I have had success replacing the capacitors in my 93-94 gauge cluster. However the 90-92 clusters are different. As Yamae said you would need to find the proper capacitors to replace and resolder.

Another option is to source a working cluster from ebay and swap the circuit board over or just replace the whole cluster and swap the manual odometer over? I'm not 100% sure on the odometer... Check out this thread - https://www.clublexus.com/forums/ls-...t-cluster.html

I know the clusters on ebay are rather expensive, it might be in my interest to run a state over to the salvage yard and grab a cluster and swap it, especially knowing they just got another ls400 in a week ago. I also looked up various sources to send my cluster to and have it fixed, that's rather expensive too, so my cheapest option is to grab one and swap it and hope for the best.

well buddy I got the perfect truck for you. The best light duty pickup truck ever made. It’s called the 1st gen tundra. With the 2uzfe aka the higher torque truck version older brother of the 1uzfe. Bad years? None. Common issues? Leaking exhaust manifolds. That’s it. Get a 1st gen tundra my guy. I have one and they’re sweet. The pre 2005 models are the most reliable old school ones
