I ran into a problem today trying to put the Silverstar 9005 into the 9006 headlight slots. The one on the driver side does not light up. It's not the bulb because i switched the bulb and it still doesn't light up. If I put the old stock ones back in, it works fine. The terminals are not bent or anything. Did anyone else have this problem and what did they do?
the terminals are swapped on the driver side. sometimes bulbs are made with + and - the same way, but that's not the case on the lex i guess. using a tiny flat head screwdriver you should be able to unplug the head of the power connect of the car and swift the two
I'm going to try this, but I don't know if that's the problem. Because if it was, I wouldn't be able to switch the 9006 bulbs from passenger to driver side, they would be side dependent also, but they are not. At this point, I'll try anything.
Ok, I'm an idiot. I discovered the problem. The 9005 is not designed to fit in the 9006 socket. When you try to put it on, you're actuallty forcing the 2 ribs in the bulb into the plastic on the harness. Since I hand-pushed the first bulb, I thought it would also be the case with the second one. Apparently I didn't get it in far enough and had to resort to pliers. Just FYI.
romnil, I did fit the 9005 bulb into the 9006 plug. It fits ok, you just have to force it in. And they are brighter than the 9006 bulbs. I'm happy with it. That plus I could take the 9006 silverstars I had in the head lights and move them to the fog lights. It makes a huge diffence in the fog lights.
