AFS, ballast, or light issue?
My 2006 GS430 had a driver's side bulb slowly cutting off quicker and quicker and finally died. I replaced both bulbs and now I have an issue with driver's side bulb still going out and especially when I take tight turns or any turns now for that matter. I finally turned off the AFS and it lasts a whole lot longer but will cut off on tight turns. What could be my problem? Thanks in advance!
swap the bulbs to the other side and see if the problem still happens with the drivers side. if it doesnt then its not the bulb. if it does, its probably the ballast, doubt its the AFS
Okay guys, this is my thoughts on the matter
1. This problem is most frequent with the driver side (I smell a conspiracy here Toyota, ie... the front cigarette lighter by the cassette deck stop working even though the fuse is good and the one under the arm rest is still good) something is shortening the life span on our OEM ballast/HID Low Beam, i'm suspecting a bad ground in the electrical system.
I doubt that most of us GS owners use our cars as a daily drivers witch equals to less usage hours on our 2500 rated hours OEM HID bulbs. As UNCGS06 stated, he has replaced the Lo Beams and the driver side still goes dead.
My driver side normally goes out after driving on a rough road or after driving over small bumps. Its a good thing i don't do a lot of night driving or I would have a lot of tickets from these annoying traffic cops.
2. I'm in the process of replacing my Ballast on both sides, but i will not be using the OEM Denso DS4 due to the fact that it will more than likely fail again after seeing such a high failure rate here on CL. I have purchased other 35 Watt HID Kits for my Honda's that are still functional going on 5 years now, and I've only done one bulb replacement, no flickering or lights out symptoms. I will be ordering a kit soon and will post my reviews over the next 24 months of evaluations.
