Default HID Kit Wire Relay..is it needed?

I was going to install the volt HID kit from xenondepot and was just wondering if I needed to get a relay harness as well? Some people say that it is not needed..

I've been using my HID's for over 2 years now without one... on stock wiring.

The only time you need one is to protect the wiring from those stupid 100W bulbs that are advertised as 'hid headlamp' off eBay.

don't bother with the harness.

the relay in the harness that i installed on my high beams fried recently and i had to drive 5 miles home with my high beams on.....being that the relay fried they just stayed on! so once i got home at @ 9 pm i had to open up the hood and disconnect the relay and reconnected the stock wiring.....haven't had any problems since going back to the stock wiring.

Better question - why wasn't it fused? Not using a fuse = you creating a situation where you can burn down the vehicle. It worked out, luckily, but I hope that serves as a lesson to others.

no it was not smoking.
big mack it has an inline fuse. i can't figure out for the life of me what happened and at this point, i don't really care. i didn't check the fuse because i removed the harness altogether. the relay is definitely shot. i know this because you're not supposed to hear rattling inside it if you shake it...mine does.
