So i followed the steps of 96sc who did a HID conversion using the stock projectors...

I opened up my headlights and cut off the tab inside the projector and put everything back together...

while it looks like i have a great cutoff line against a wall... the projection onto the road/ground is V-pattern.... so there's a V of darkness and i can't see a thing directly in front of me. No i haven't tried to adjust the aiming (and yes the bubble is all the way forward) but i'm looking for any suggestions since i called it quits for the night...

any help is appreciated... thanks

 

also.... i noticed that when i put the headlights back in.... it doesn't sit as far in anymore... i have a small gap between the lining of the headlight and the fender... It doensn't sit flush anymore

am i missing something? I'm sure the headlights sealed back properly because I was able to put the clips back on... what else could it be?

Did you use a 9006 plug and play kit? Or did you just use sealer to wedge the bulb into the socket? I used to have M/B HIDs in my 96 GS and I had the same problem, it was caused by the bulb not being able to go all the way into the socket! Hope this helps

well actually what i did was take out the 9006 ring via the 3 screws that hold it on... dremelled the bulb base a teeny bit to get it to sit flush... and then put the ring back on to keep it in place... looks really really OEM and factory IMO... so if anything it sits a teeny bit further in than a regular 9006 bulb.

that could be a possibility.... but then again a board member (96sc) did the same exact thing i did.... and he said everything turned out great?

so you used a 9006 adapter? and you just pushed it in more to get rid of the V?

i tried to adjust everything (short of twisting around the bulb itself)

The more i played with the adjustments... the more i began to realize how the beam is projecting... each headlight is projecting a V pattern that doesn't overlap.... meaning the dark spot of one headightisn't being lit by the projection of the other headlight. Thus i just have a dark V in front of me.

Can someone chime in?

 

Very strange. This is the second time I've heard of this problem. The first being here:

My guess would be that the bulb itself is pointed too low. The cutoff of the projector is only allowing the little light that is projecting above that cutoff. If you look at this picture:



you will notice that the cutoff looks like this:

The bulb may be pointed so low that it doesn't allow light to reach over the top bridge of the shield. This may be a result of either the aiming of the bulb or the bulb's base. But as I've said, I've only heard of this problem once before.

 

hmm... maybe i'll try to purposely aim the bulb higher, granted it will sit funny instead of flush now... but hey... whatever works

 

Once you alter the headlight housing the bubble leveling is no good any more, you must do you own adjusting at a good flat area.
